Uncle Sam dressed in red, white and blue holding baby

The 4th of July, a great American holiday.  It has become a tradition for me to go to the 4th of July celebration at the History Museum in Chicago.  There is a concert of patriotic music, recognition of  our veterans, a colorful children’s parade led by the ever- popular Uncle Sam on stilts, the reading of the Declaration of Independence, a keynote address, and the shooting of muskets by a regiment of “British Revolutionary soldiers.”

Many of the spectators get into the spirit by dressing up in red, white and blue.  Ages range from one to one hundred.  Families bring their small children and dogs.   It is a fun outing and good spirit shared by all.  And this year, we were blessed with wonderful weather!
