Obama Returns to Chicago to Back Democratic Candidates

President Barack Obama at political rally

Monday, October 20, 2014

Yesterday, President Barack Obama came home to Chicago to support Governor Pat Quinn and the other Illinois Democratic candidates at a rally on the South Side - at Chicago State University - Jones Convocation Center.

The rally was aimed to appeal to the minority vote - African Americans, Hispanics and women.  Getting out the minority vote is essential for the Democrats, especially in the Governor’s race where the opponents are running neck and neck.   Early voting in Illinois begins today

The speakers discussed  the availability of health care now for those who could not previously afford it,  their support of an increase in the minimum wage, and decreasing interest rates on college loans.

Waving their “Fired Up and Ready to Vote” signs, the audience began to “do the wave “throughout the room while waiting for Quinn to come to the podium.

The next big gun to come to town is Bill Clinton who will appear with Quinn at the Wheatland Tube manufacturing plant  tomorrow.
