The National Offshore One Design  2018 regatta took place in Chicago from June 8 to June 10.  Yachtsmen on more than a 100 boats gathered to test their sailling knowledge against each other.  There were  3 circles of different fleets racing .  On Saturday, some of the boats went  on a long distance race while the others  race around the marks set up by the race committee.  Helly Hansen (clothingwear) is the principal sponsor.  The races are organized by Sailing World Magazine with the Chicago Yacht Club acting as host for the event.

The weather did not cooperate this year.  Lightning and thunderstorms caused postponements on Friday. More rain and a postponement on Saturday. On the third day, although there was dense fog, the boats went out to the race course for a short day.  The races wrapped up early on this last day, so that the yachtsmen could get an early start on returning  home.

Overall winner of the regatta was the J111 Kashmir co-owned by Karl Brummel, Steve Henderson, and Mike Mayer.
