ArtSlant Chicago Selects "Pilot in Transit" for Showcase
Saturday August 1, 2015
ArtSlant Chicago chose for its Showcase my photo of a pilot walking in the United Airlines terminal at O'Hare Airport. This was taken when I was headed to The Palm Springs Photo Festival in California in April. I was in the terminal on the conveyer belt walkway carting my carry-on and going in the opposite direction of the pilot. I whipped out my iphone to get the shot that I saw was about to happen. The animated figure of the pilot made a perfect counterpoint to the colorful graphic environment of the terminal
The ArtSlant Showcase has six rounds of competition per year. An artist is only permitted to enter one image per round. There are multiple categories, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and new media, The art is reviewed by international gallerists, art curators and other art professionals.
"Pilot in Transit" was my first entry in the photography category. Happily, my images have been honored in three out of the four rounds this year.
