Chicago Blues Festival Honors Legacy of Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon
Sunday, June 14, 2015
I went to last night's concert. After a crowd pleasing performance by Shemeka Copeland, there was a pause in the concert due to lightning strikes in the area. Last night's headliner was the Windy City's own legendary Buddy Guy. Despite constant rain, the crowd remained. The audience rose to their feet, umbrellas up, during Guy's consummate performance.

Chicago's 32nd annual Blues Fest is taking place this weekend June 12-14. The weekend's free blues performances culminates with a centennial celebration at the Petrillo Music Shell in Grant Park honoring Muddy Waters, the "father of modern Chicago blues," and Willie Dixon, the "poet laureate of the blues" today beginning at 5:30 PM.
Top performers featured at the Festival are Buddy Guy, Shemekia Copeland, Toronzo Cannon, Syl Johnson, Clarence Carter and Zora Young.
Constant rain did not dampen enthusiasm of Blues Fest fans.
