Chicago Race to Mackinac Gets Under Way
Sunday, July 20, 2014
The 106th Chicago Race to Mackinac got off to a slow start. It was a beautiful day in the Windy City, but the City was not so windy.
More than 300 boats began the journey with staggered starts for the multiple fleets on Saturday, July 19th. The afternoon before, the slower cruising fleets got a head start.
Roy Disney’s boat Pyewacket still holds the monohull record time from the 2002 race with a lapsed time of 23 hours 30 minutes. From the looks of things, it seems his record will stay in tact.
