Installation of “Under the Sea”
Wednesday, December 3, 2014
Last night, we installed my newest piece, “Under the Sea” at the Hyde Park Art Center in Chicago. The print is five feet long, the largest artwork that I have ever produced. It is included in the Bridge Program exhibit.
This image is a departure from photography for me. It was produced using after-capture photographic software.
The piece is printed on metal through a special sublimation heat process in which the color is infused into the substrate. The hues on the glossy surface are brilliant, almost irridescent.
The opening reception and artist talk for the exhibit is Tuesday, December 9th from 6-8PM. The reception is open to the public.
The show will be up for the month of December.
I also have photos in the upstairs gallery at the Hyde Park Art Center in the “Front & Center Exhibit.” The closing reception and artist talk for that show is December 14th from 2-4 PM.
Production of my exhibition prints was partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency.
