Fall at the Chicago Botanic Garden
Tuesday, October 24, 2016
The Chicago Botanic Garden is a park located in Glencoe in northern Chicagoland. This large natural area of 365 acres contains 27 gardens. It is open all year round.
I visited this beautiful park over the weekend, as one of the more than million visitors who come here each year. It was a great time of year to leisurely take a stroll aad admire the splendid foliage displaying brilliant Fall color.
I arrived in early morning to catch the soft light that rolled over the landscape. I walked past the water lilies, through the English Garden and on to the Japanese Garden. There is a Zen feeling of serenity here, a perfect place to sit and contemplate.
Since I have an affinity for water, I especially enjoy the Great Basin and North Lake found at the Botanic Garden. The water reflects the surrounding landscape. I was also delighted to find waterfalls on my walk.
The Chicago Botanic Garden offers year-round activities and events. On the grounds is the Daniel F and Ada L. Rice Plant Conservation Science Center where scientists and graduate students conduct plant research. For more information, go to www.chicagobotanic.org
