Eddie the Eagle Premieres in Chicago

Tuesday , February 17, 2016

A crowd of movie-goers gathered with anticipation at the Kerasotes Theater in Delano Court in Chicago last night for the arrival of stars of "Eddie the Eagle," Hugh Jackman and Taron Egerton and the movie's director Dexter Fletcher .

The three guys posed for pictures and were interviewed by several television reporters prior to the showing of the film.  They also spoke briefly at the front of the audience once everyone was situated in the theater.

The movie is based on the true story of a  British ski jumper who persevered despite the many obstacles put in his way. His enthusiasm and unbounded spirit won the hearts of sports fans at the 1988 Olympics. Taron Egerton plays Eddie Edwards, the athlete depicted in this movie. Hugh Jackman plays his unlikely coach who likes to drink a little too much.

This movie is both uplifting and heartwarming.  It shows how a person by sheer determination and positive attitude can carry through to his dream, despite the odds against him.

I would highly recommend this film. It is coming out in theaters on February 26th.

The audience burst out in applause at the end of the screening, even though the actors were no longer there.
