Fierce Five Women Gymnasts Selected for 2016 Olympics

Tuesday, July 12, 2016

Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman, gold medal winning women gymnasts in the Olympic Games of 2012 are returning for the Olympics in Rio this summer.

Simone Biles, three-time all-round world champion (2013-2015) and four-time U.S. national all around champion (2013-2016) is the most decorated American female gymanast in world championship history, having won 14 medals - ten of them gold. She is a favorite to win in Rio.

Laurie Hernandez, 16, will be one of the youngest contenders in the Games. The fifth spot was given to Madison Kocian, whose expertise on the uneven bars completes the strength of the American women's team.

The photos shown here were taken four years ago prior to the 2012 Olympics.  Simone Biles was competing as a junior gymnast at that time.
