It’s Brrrrisk in Chicago
Wednesday, January 8, 2014
Chicago has been experiencing the freezing cold that is affecting much of the country due to the “polar vortex.” A record low of 16 degrees below zero with a wind chill factor of negative fifty in some parts of the city was measured on Monday, January 6th. Schools and some businesses were closed and citizens were told to stay indoors. Tuesday was almost as frigid. Steam was coming off of Lake Michigan and the Chicago River.
I braved the cold for a little while, with 3 layers of clothing. It didn’t take long for my face and fingers feel the sting. They said that frostbite could happen in about 10 minutes of exposure. I scurried back to a warm place with some “cool” images in my camera.
