Can Summer Really Be Here?
Monday, June 9, 2014

The ice has finally melted. This past winter was a whopper. Cold, snow, cold, snow. It seemed that it was endless.
Yes, we have our Lake again in liquid form! The boats have returned from hibernation. The land is green once more.
I can now breathe a sigh of relief. Summer is officially here for me. I made my initial foray on the water this year for the first major regatta of the season in Chicago - the National Offshore One Design championship sponsored by Sailing World.

My vessel was a small, 18 foot inflatable hard-bottomed boat, but , boy could it fly through the water. The driver, videographer and I sped from one circle of racing boats to another.
The boats performed their perennial ritual in colorful fashion
I was there to preserve it with my trusted camera.
Ah, all is right with the world.
