Botanic Imaginings
Saturday March 31, 2018

I continue to make image composites for a body of work based on my photos of trees and plants.
It is both a surprise and a delight to find anthropormorphic creatures emerging from the juxtaposition of my images. It's like finding pictures of animals when you are looking at cloud formations. I accentuate these "beings" through the use of dodging and burning. I may "paint" a touch or two for additional enhancement. Ultimately, I let the viewer form his own interpretation of my image.
Next week, a number of my botanic montages will be exhibited at the Noyes Cultural Art Center in Evanston, Illinois as part of the Fort Dearborn-Chicago Photo Forum - "Celebrating 131 Years + 1" group show. The opening reception is Friday, April 6 from 5-7 PM. The exhibit runs until May 18, 2018.
