I have been following the Deep Rooted Dance Theater, a company of talented dancers in Chicago co-founded by Kevin Iega Jeff and Gary Abbott. The troop follows in the traditions of American and African-American dance. It incorporates modern ballet and African dance to tell stories via expressive choreography.

I've had the privilege to attend some of the Deeply Rooted dress rehearsals at the David and Reva Logan Center in Hyde Park, where I have captured the beautiful form and technical skills of the dancers.  They are accomplished performers, dedicated to their art.
